As someone that goes on trailrides alone often I was always scared something bad would happen. Not to me, no ofcourse not, I’m a horsegirl, I worry about my horse!

I have heard so many horror stories over the years of riders that had fallen off and the horse went missing for hours, days, sometimes even months. And often it luckily was found and safely put in a field or stable until they found the owner. I even found a horse walking around without a rider a few times myself. I just walked them back the way they come from (so glad my own pony was a champ and behaved while leading an unknown horse next to him!) and searched for the owner and was lucky to have found them after a while but the rider would be in a full on panic because they were so scared something would happen to their horse. I knew that my pony Lodewijk would not run away, he would find the closest edible thing, stop and eat. He always did.

But what would happen if something happened to me? What if someone found me dead or unconscious next to my horse? What would happen to him? That was my fear. He would panic if someone would put him in a stall or a trailer, he would get very sick or even die if they would feed him something of off his very long list of food he couldn’t eat.

So I wrote his stable address, my emergency contact information and my own number on a piece of paper and attached it to my saddle. But that didn’t hold up long ofcourse. Then I put it inside my saddle (I had a treeless saddle with a zipper) but who would look there if they found a horse?

Then I remembered I’m a leatherworker, I can make something, and even make it look pretty. That's when I made my first ID-Tag.
Over the years people always complimented my saddletag. It looked like a pretty accessory and the natural coloured leather stood out against my black saddle but matched my chestnut pony very nicely. Luckily my tag has never had to be used for emergencies. But I do feel less anxious when going out alone.

Other people that loved my ID-Tag often asked me to make them for their saddle as well. And last year I started making batches of them to take to markets where I can stamp the information in the leather on the spot. A few months ago I finally took the time to add them to my online store as well.

Since then my ID-Tags have reached even outside the horse community. People that just love the look of them and they use it as a keychain or a bag charm or as an emergency contact tag on kids bags, they’re not just for horsepeople!

You can pick a design, add the information you want stamped on the back and then we ship it out to you. All leather tags are handmade so the same design may have slight variations making every piece unique.
You can add up to two lines of text on the back of them. Usually it’s a name and a phonenumber or address. But you can also just use them as nametags and only have a name on them or add a sweet little message on them for a loved one, a quote that gives you strength or inspiration. Leave the back blank and keep it as a neutral keychain, you can even unscrew the little screw and exchange the clasp or add a keyring to it.

So many possibilities!
Which one will you pick?
